Ben's WX Summary - Updated: Sunday @ 12:24pm
A trough off the West Coast will bring cooler temperatures out there today, with gusty west winds at times and rain throughout the day as low pressure pumps tropical moisture into Southern California. Unfortunately, we're looking at a soggy day with showers continuing as highs cool to the 60s, with west winds 10-15 mph. As showers taper off this afternoon and skies begin to clear, we could generate enough instability for an isolated thunderstorm with the snow level above 14,000 feet. Drier conditions will return for Labor Day, so we'll salvage some of the weekend with highs in the lower 70s, southwest winds gusting 10-20 mph during the afternoon. A lot of locations have already received around a half inch of rain today, with additional rainfall amounts of around a quarter inch possible, with localized amounts near one inch, mainly in the mountains, northern area or near any thunderstorms. High pressure will return to the region throughout much of next week, setting us up in a late-season monsoon pattern with above-normal temperatures and possible afternoon thundershowers over our mountains and deserts.
